Tennis Court
We can offer guests the use of a full size, hard surface tennis court at Rosturk Woods. It also has a Basket Ball Hoop and a set of goal posts to accommodate other sporting needs !

Games Room
There is a games room with poll table and darts board which guests are welcome to use.

Swimming
With direct, private access to the water when the tide is in swimming in the clean waters of Clew Bay is a short walk. Although the water nearest to the house is shallow it is fun and refreshing. Deeper water and good body boarding conditions are located at the nearby golf links beach.

Wind Surfing
There is an ideal, gently shelving beginners beach at the house. More challenging conditions for the experienced boarder are available at other nearby locations.

Boat Trips
Rosturk Woods runs a converted lobster fishing boat called Twilight Star as a passenger boat that is ideal for short or long trips amongst the islands of Clew Bay. Explore the bay’s marine life, look for birds, otters, seals and sometimes dolphins and learn about the bay’s heritage with a knowledgeable guide. Ideal for child friendly mackerel fishing outings.Trips are tailor made for your specific needs and can be arranged once you are here. For deep sea angling,  sailing tuition etc see our Outdoor Activities Page.

Walks From The Houses
…on the mountain range north of the house.This now includes access to the newly opened Railway line as a walking and cycling path stretching from Newport through to Mulranny. This provides a hard clean walking path with spectacular views across Clew Bay and is a short walk from Rosturk Woods. Sailing, Windsurfing and Kitesurfing
Rosturk Woods is an ideal location to learn sailing and windsurfing, and tuition by and ISA approved instructor can be arranged whether you are a beginner or more advanced, a child or an adult. This does need to be booked in  advance so please let us have as much notice as possible. For the more experienced sailors challenging and exhilarating conditions can usually be found further to seaward and a Hobie 15 usually provides a good means of enjoying oneself.

We can also arrange tuition for Windsurfing and the shallow gently shelving shore in front of Rosturk is an ideal site for beginners. We can guide more experienced wind surfers to other sites nearby.

Kitesurfing sites abound in Clew Bay, each suitable for a given wind. The shallow, open shore in front of Rosturk is suitable for a south westerly wind while Keel Lake in Achill suits a southerly wind. All suitable for experienced kiters and we can give you a guide as to where to go once we know the wind direction.

Kayaking
Clew Bay is an ideal place for Kayaking and Rosturk is a great place to set out on a kayaking adventure. Ali Donald runs ‘Saoirse Na Mara’ which means “Freedom of the Seas” and we recommend that people book Ali to get the most out of both Clew Bay and their kayaking experience.
